The Cosmic Veda ("we," "us") provides Vedic astrology guidance through our website and mobile applications. Your birth details are personal — we treat them that way. This policy explains, in plain language, what we collect, why, how it is protected, and the choices you have.
The short version: we collect only what is needed to calculate your chart and provide our services. We do not sell your data, we do not share it with advertisers, and our mobile app contains no advertising or analytics tracking SDKs. You can use the app as a guest without creating any account, and you can delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly inside the app.
1. Information we collect
Account information
- Name and email address — provided when you sign in with Google or Apple. We receive only your basic profile (name, email); we never see your Google or Apple password.
Birth details
- Date, time, and place of birth (including geographic coordinates and timezone) — the essential inputs for calculating your Vedic birth chart, dasha timeline, and related readings.
- Partner or family birth details — if you use the Compatibility feature, you may enter another person's birth details. These are used solely to compute the compatibility analysis you requested. Please only enter details of people whose consent you have.
Content you create
- Journal entries and saved preferences within the app.
Website lead information
- If you request a free report on our website (for example, the Complete Horoscope), we collect the name, email, and birth details you submit in order to generate the report and send you our welcome email.
Technical information
- Standard server logs (IP address, request time, device/browser type) used for security, rate limiting, and troubleshooting. Our mobile app does not include third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
2. Guest mode
You can use the mobile app without creating an account. In guest mode, your birth details and chart are stored only on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers unless and until you choose to sign in, at which point your profile syncs so you can access it across devices.
3. How we use your information
- To calculate your birth chart, dasha periods, compatibility analyses, and other astrological features using our calculation engine.
- To provide, maintain, and improve our services, and to remember your profile across devices when signed in.
- To send service emails — such as your requested free report and a welcome message — and, if you joined our mailing list, occasional insights you can unsubscribe from at any time.
- To respond when you contact us, and to schedule consultations you book.
- To protect our services against abuse (rate limiting, spam prevention).
We do not sell your personal information, share it with data brokers, or use it for third-party advertising.
4. Where your data lives and how it is protected
- Our services run on Google Cloud Platform and Firebase (United States region). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest.
- Access to production systems is restricted through role-based access controls; credentials and keys are stored in encrypted secret management, never in application code.
- Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication with Google and Apple sign-in — we never store passwords.
No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we follow current industry practice and review our security posture regularly.
5. Service providers (sub-processors)
We use a small number of providers to operate the service, each bound to process data only on our behalf:
- Google Cloud / Firebase — hosting, database, and authentication.
- Google & Apple — sign-in identity providers.
- Microsoft 365 — our business email, including service emails we send you.
- MailerLite — newsletter delivery for subscribers who opted in (unsubscribe anytime).
6. Data retention and deletion
- Active accounts: your data is retained while your account is active so your charts and journal remain available.
- Inactive accounts: if an account shows no activity for 12 consecutive months, we delete the account and its associated personal data (profile, birth details, journal entries) from our systems.
- Delete anytime: in the app, go to Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, birth details, chart data, and journal entries. You can also email us at support@thecosmicveda.com and we will complete deletion for you.
- Backups and logs are purged on a rolling basis within 90 days of deletion.
7. Your rights and choices
You may request access to, correction of, export of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by emailing support@thecosmicveda.com. If you are in a region with specific privacy rights (such as the EEA, UK, or California), we honor those rights in accordance with applicable law. Marketing emails always include an unsubscribe link, and replying "unsubscribe" to any of our emails also works.
8. Children
Our services are intended for users aged 13 and older and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. International users
Our services are operated from the United States. If you use them from elsewhere, your information is processed in the US under the safeguards described above.
10. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
